Today I saw my old blood tutorial get faved. So I had a look at it, and decided it's pretty outdated and simple. So here we are.

Hope you guys find it helpful

Its also good to keep in mind that blood can be completly different colors coming from different areas of the animal/human, and different amounts.

Like shoot something in the eye and the blood will be BRIGHT red not much dark at all and will bleed and bleed and bleed much more than you'd think was possible. Cut a vain and you will bleed a little; however, cut an artery and you might bleed to death. The blood just leaving you heard is super dark.

I've looked at this a few times and each time I click on the image and see the title, I imagine a really angry British guy shouting "A BLOODY TUTORIAL!". Anyways, the tutorial was very helpful, great job making it!

It's funny how some people think blood is like a sprinkler. I know personally it does not spray, at all, even when you slit the neck of an animal, it doesn't spray.

It's a bit different if you have the force from.. A sword slashing let's say. But from the body itself? Not so much :p

It's okay, I've done things like that before. That's why before I make my next tutorial, I'm typing the whole thing out in a word document first and rereading before I put it in a text box for Photoshop (odd how it doesn't have spellcheck in it).

Yep. Does the way you draw wounds also work if it is on top of fur? You would get rid of the fur around the area, and still draw it the way you did in this tutorial right?

If there's one thing I have problems drawing, it's blood. But this simplified it nicely, and I love seeing the real-world counterpart so it's broken down nicely.

I should give this method a try!

Hm. But hard to just explain. If you can i would advise buying a tube of fake blood and play around with it. It has that thicker consistency. I used the same thing here. :)

While I really like this tutorial I have to point out that blood is very thick and runs very slowly and therefore don't very often trickle down in thin paths but much more often in thick paths. It ain't water, that's for sure. It will also prefer to follow one path rather than splitting up in several. It also dries ridicolously fast. But of course we can always assume the victim is suffering of a thinned out blood disease ;)

It's also fun to see how blood can have an orange tint where it's thin, and almost black where it is thick. Blood also rarely dries all red but instead usually becomes a redish brown. Movies never seem to get that right <_<

Also, really nice setup for the tutorial, very clear and easy to follow.
