Hi guys! I hope you're all doing well. Things are pretty steady on my end. I keep drawing, working, and writing. Maybe I'll post an overall update soon as well that goes into details about my projects, writing and such.

If you got art in DA storage. Maybe back it up

Hey guys, how are you doing?

I may be wrong about this, so feel free to correct me, but before Eclipse rolls out you might want to back up anything in your storage that means anything to you (I had a lot of stuff I did not have on pc anymore, and some with important dates to me personally)


I tried looking for storage button in Eclipse and I have no idea where it's hiding if it is out there. Is it actually somewhere out there? If yes then feel free to ignore it.

I would just hate to see people lose any of their old stuff.


It was a nice feeling going back to my 2005 posts onward. Remembering some old friends who have not been in contact, or on DA all together in years now. I also did not realize how much more traffic I used to get, given how much lower my skill was as well. I knew it was more but not that hehe. Thousands of views, hundreds of favs. It was a different time around here for sure.

Hey!

Do you like to draw, sharing art with other people, exchanging resources and tutorials, but feel like big channels are bit crowded? (Not to mention silly memes, cooking recipes and more)

Eclipse was hiding hundreds of messages I missed.

With the yesterday's announcement that Eclipse will be soon rolling out permanently, I was somehow switched back to classic DA only to find out I had hundreds of journals, shouts, polls, some deviations still sitting in my inbox, unread, weeks and weeks old. Some as new as few last days. I'm finding it baffling how a site that's been in works for, what, about a year now? Is so fundamentally broken. I never get notifications on HQ updates on eclipse, and if you're in my sketchdump group you might find a lot of submissions have gone long enough into expiration because that's also never visible and I or my mod do not always remember to dig in the mailbox to find them.

To say the very least I'm a bit frustrated I probably made some people feel ignored because of eclipse just withholding my correspondence. And that I missed out on many many updates from people I follow, of whom a lot are leaving DA.

I'm not sure what the future holds, but given DA is my go to art account into which I put most my time and effort with that sort of yield I feel forced to settle down permanently elsewhere. I really wanted this to work but with the shrinking pool of familiar artists, and larger difficulty to get seen to the point we used to get noticed on here it sounds like Sisyphus rolling up his rock up a mountain.

Don't get me wrong I'll still post my work on here,but the engagement part might go elsewhere. I feel, however, that there isn't a good equivalent of DA out there as of yet. Not gallery based with large engagement and good culture.

I do have twitter, tumblr (which i haven't used in a while) but i find those to be very fleeting with how everything passes fast. Insta has a gallery but the fact art base is mixed up into such wide array of material makes it feel like what DA is heading towards. Artstation was never very social IMO, not to mention very messy interface.

Do you guys know where's most active nowadays? Not only in terms of artists uploading but also people chatting and commenting.

For now I'll join in with the list of places to follow me aside of da

Has any of you ever thought to yourself 10-20 years ago: 'Man... 2020. It's so far away. I'll be like..x years old when it comes. How crazy is that?' I surely did. I hope all of you managed to get done what you set out to do, or at least managed to get the ball rolling like some of us :P. If not, that's okay. No better time to start like right now.


Feel free to share your notable events from 2019, or even this decade : ) What did you get up to? Any big life changes?


The biggest one for me was finishing college, moving to UK to be with my partner, seeing Australia and I guess many more. But the latter two were definitely not something I thought I'd do in my life.


Wishing you all best and wherever you are I hope you greet the New Year with good vibes.


I'll see you later with a followup probably. New goals and new things I've started but not gone public with as of yet. But it will be fun for me for sure.
