I feel like this is the time where I'm pretty much ready to start showcasing the story for some critique. Ever since I got my laptop, and started making proper time for this, I've been editing almost daily. Once this pass is done, I want to start posting snippets, or first chapters for critique, and hopefully this year... finally publish it.

While I know some people here were interested in helping me out and lending their skill and time (please let me know if you still can, you'd be amazing), I want to ask if anyone can send me links to some fantasy oriented critique forums.

Also if anyone has contacts with a good, affordable editor and an agent, I'd love to ask few questions.

Thanks : )

Goodness, i dont think you pay to get an agent/editor? But there are editing services that you can pay for.

If you want an agent/editor to promote your book- I would do is research books that you enjoyed that are similar to the story you've written, then find who the agent/editors were. Some editors act as Agents, some Agents will act as editors. And if they can get a publisher interested in your story, they will have an editor as well.* Looking for an agent is kinda like making a resume for you/your book. You should prepare a blurb (i.e., what you would find on the back of a book that gives a summary of the story) and really nail it down to explain your story. The first sentence should explain the premise as well as be your hook. You can google agent letters, its about as clear as mud- kinda liek resumes. :D But being able to talk about and compare to what a particular agent likes and previous books they have supported is a big bonus in your agent letter.

But for now i wouldn't even worry about agents or editors until you have run your manuscript multiple times through yourself and your beta readers. You never contact an editor unless your manuscript is finished.

*[Though make sure its edited to the BEST you think it can be first. Beta readers are your very best friend, i've found writing forums are reluctant and difficult to read peoples stories because so many people want their story proofread without also contributing to the forum, and proofreading takes a lot of time. So Instead of forums, i'd look up local writing/proofreading groups in your area, or connect with other writers with manuscripts and do an exchange & proofread with each other! If I had a finish manuscript to exchange i'd do it with you hehe.]
